Shildon hit the road again this time to West Allotment Celtic for an F.A VASE
match. Not for the first time this season Shildon had to reshuffle, Raitt came
in for Moore whilst Chris Mason went to centre half to replace Hall with Gary
Ankers playing left back. Shildon started the game positive but again conceded a
sloppy goal, from a Shildon corner Celtic managed to clear and score a awful
goal from Shildons point of view. Both sides struggled to come keep there
footing on a pitch which seemed to cut up easily, but Shildon did begin to turn
the crew and create a few decent efforts. Dion Raitt and Stuart Niven both had
long range efforts , Adam Emsons great run and cross fell just inches short of
Masters in the 12th minute. Tyson Masters hit the back of the net in the 27th
minute, Stuart Niven played a clever ball and Masters did well to beat the
offside trap and finished in style to bring the sides level. Both sides were
guilty of playing long balls which made the game difficult to watch but Shildon
always looked the more likely to score and with half time approaching Tyson
Masters put the away side in front, it was Niven again who found Master in the
box, the Celtic keeper blocked his first effort but Masters made no mistakes
second time around and smashed the ball into the net to send Shildon into half
time with a one goal advantage.
HALF TIME WEST ALLOTMENT CELTIC 1-2 SHILDON
Shildon made the perfect start to the second half, Dion Raitt played a great
ball into the path of Tyson Masters who hit the ball first time past the Celtic
keeper to put Shildon 3-1 up and complete his hat trick. The home side were
rocked by this and tried to pick themselves up but never really created any
clear cut chances, in fact it was another piece of bad defending which got
Celtic back into the game, Andy Howarth brought down a Celtic player in the area
after Shildon failed to clear the danger. The spot kick was smashed home giving
Celtic a life line. At this stage of the game it looked as if Shildon were going
to let slip there advantage, but the lads showed great character and increased
there lead in the 70th minute, after good work by the returning Simon Ord it was
that man again Tyson Masters who managed to find space in the area and put the
ball through the legs of the Celtic keeper. West Allotment did try to rally
themselves but raerly looked like scoring, Celtics fate was sealed in the 85th
minute when Masters unbelievbly got his fifth of the game, Lewis Whensley
intercepted a cross field ball and played Masters in, the in form striker made
no mistake with a true goal poachers finish put the final nail in West
Allotments coffin. The game was by no means a classic and made the defeat the
previous week at Whitby even harder to swallow as Shildon played much better
football that day, but with the Masters in this sort of form maybe Shildon could
have an F.A Vase run like they did last season.
