After being dumped out of the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday night against second division Sunderland RCA it was vital that Shildon got back into winning ways . Manager Gary Forrest rang the changes, Stuart Niven, Andy Howarth and Daryll Hall made way for Daniel Moore and new signings Lewis Hardman and Wayne Clark. Tyson Masters went close in the 1st minute , and when captain Daniel Moore saw his header go just wide in the 10th minute it looked as if Shildon were going to control the game. The home side had different ideas and hit back with there first chance in the 15th minute but Andrew Spence did well to save the effort. Karl Everitt`s cross in the 20th minute was just inches short of Daniel Moore , Town looked lively on the break and almost caught Shildon out just a minute later but luckily Spence was equal their effort. New signing Hardman almost scored on his debut but the Town keeper did well to punch clear his effort for a corner. Shildon almost scored from the resulting corner, Moore`s header caused panic in the Town box, the ball pinged around all over the place but somehow the home side managed to clear the danger. Shildon finished the first half the better, after a good move Daniel Moore had a shot in the 34th minute that was well saved, Karl Everitt had a great looping header go just over the bar and the In form Tyson Masters blazed a great chance just over the bar. After the dreadful game on Tuesday this was a much improved display.
HALF TIME SHILDON 0-0 NORTHALLERTON TOWN
The Shildon players returned for the second half and seemed to have to wait an age for Northallerton to appear from the changes rooms. It was not soon into the second half when one of the Northallerton players was back in the changing rooms, an awful elbow on Shildon Captain which earned the big number nine a straight red card in the 55th minute. Despite having a man advantage Shildon found it hard to break down Northallerton who simply got men behind the ball hoping to catch Shildon on the break. Masters managed an effort in the 76th minute that came to nothing. The introduction of Stuart Niven brought some much needed guile to the side and it was his cross in the 79th minute that give Adam Emson the chance to take the lead, Emson finished in style to finally give the travelling fans something to shout about. In truth Northallerton never looked like getting back into the game and Shildon finished the game better, Dion Raitt had a great chance to make it two in injury time, after a great run and pass by Adam Emson the midfielder found himself with a simple tap in which he some how managed to miss. The final whistle came and so did Shildon`s second league win of the season, as well as the three points it was good to see new signings Lewis Hardman and Wayne Clark both having a decent first game .
