TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER NEWCASTLE BENFIELD 1-7   SHILDON

With only two league points this game against Newcastle Benfield was a must win game, and Shildon made a great start. Tyson Masters scored with a 40 yard wonder strike that had the Benfield keeper beat all ways. Things got even better in the 7th minute when Stuart Niven put in a great free kick that Daniel Moore thumped into the back of the net. Benfield were all over the place, Shildon passed the ball quicker and smarter with Masters constantly working the line leaving the Benfield defence at a loss. The home side finally started to get a grip and created a few decent chances, a 25th minute free kick from just outside the box went just over the bar and they came even closer in the 27th minute when the post came to the rescue for Shildon. The pressure finally paid off for Benfield in the 29th minute when they pulled a goal back after some poor defending. Benfield’s comeback was short lived , just a minute later Tyson Master scored with a quality finish lobbing the on coming keeper from outside the box. Shildon now has the upper hand and it was important that they killed off the home side, Adam Emson did just that, he found himself through on goal in the 38th minute and made no mistake in hitting the back of the net, the Railwaymen dominated the closing stages of the first half and Benfield did themselves no favours when Shandron was red carded in injury time for kicking out at Ross Cowan’s.
